EMDR Therapy
If you’ve experienced something overwhelming or traumatic that still affects you today, EMDR can help your brain process those memories so they no longer feel as distressing or intrusive.
Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is an evidence-based and highly effective approach for dealing with traumatic/ difficult memories.
EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (usually eye movements) while you briefly focus on a difficult memory. This helps to activate your brain’s natural ability to process experiences that have become stuck.
You remain in control throughout therapy. Rather than reliving the trauma, your brain is doing the work of processing the memory in a safe and structured way.
We would work together to identify the experiences that continue to affect you today and work through them at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
EMDR may help with:
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Childhood trauma
Assault
Road traffic accidents
Medical traumas
Grief and loss
Distressing memories
Anxiety linked to past experiences
Many people come to EMDR because they feel they’ve talked about their experiences but still feel emotionally stuck. If that sounds familiar, I’d be happy to discuss whether EMDR could be the right approach during a free 15 minute consultation.
